Until the Christmas music started to play on the radio, and we got out the tree and lights, I forgot how much I love Christmas time. And when we began to enter into the Christmas season, I got excited! Not only because I get to look at lights around town, but because of the reason we celebrate! I absolutely love lights, any kind of lights, not just Christmas lights, I love getting to go outside in the dark and look at the lights on the mountains, and the stars!! Stars are my favorite thing in the whole world! So you can understand why I love Christmas lights, because they are similar to stars.
Anyway, the reason for Christmas! I feel like we get mixed up in all the parties, cards, gifts, and decorations that we end up missing the real value of why we celebrate Christmas.
Of course we all know that Jesus is the reason we celebrate, but do we really remember what it means that he came to earth? We are all sinners, hopeless and bound for eternal death. Because of the first sin in the garden of Eden, our world is drenched in sin and that taints everything around us. But God! Oh man, God is so good! He loves us so much, He worked out a plan for us to be with Him forever!!
Jesus chose to come to earth, lived a pretty sad life, and died, just so that we can be saved. We have hope because of Christmas time! We can be redeemed because of Christmas time! We can have eternal life because of Christmas time! I don’t know about you, but I get really excited about that!
So this Christmas, as you put up the lights, and buy those gifts, remember the goodness of God and the amazingness of this season!! I pray that Jesus will become your passion because of this Christmas time, and that each one of you would strive to know Jesus more and not just more about it! God bless y’all this Christmas season!!
