Today is Mother’s Day! Today we celebrate all that mothers do for us and continue to do. Today I have a prayer for mothers and some comments from teens and young adults about mothers.
Lord, thank you for mothers thank you for their continued giving to their children. Thank you that they teach us and love us even when we don’t deserve it. They feed us, teach us, show us how to serve you, correct us, ect.
God, today I pray that you would bless our mothers and grandmothers in a wonderful way today. Let them know they are appreciated and loved more than they could ever know. Encourage them, draw them near to you.
And I pray for those who have lost their mothers and grandmothers. I pray for those who this is their first Mother’s day with out their mom or grandma. Comfort them, be with them, overwhelm them with your love and mercy.
I pray for the torn relationships with mothers and children, that you would bring that relationship back together. Make it more beautiful than ever before.
I pray for teens my age and young adults, that you would give them renewed respect and love for their mothers. Help them to remember that their mothers are not going to be with them forever and to make the most of the moments they have with their moms and grandmas.
I pray for all the new mothers this year who are just learning how to do this “mothering” thing that you would give them strength and determination.
I pray for the single mothers who are struggling to get by. Encourage them and give them renewed determination.
Thank you, Lord for mothers. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
Here are a few comments about mothers:
Hello! My name is Helena Godfrey. I live in Canton NC. I love hiking and riding horses. I am a member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church. Mother’s day is meant for children to honor and give presents to their mothers. But wait….. What does the 5th commandment say? “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”
That means we should honor our mothers not just one day a year, but everyday of our life. But why? “That your day’s may be long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” -Helena Godfrey, 14
An image appeared in my head recently. I imagined someone bringing a card and flowers to their mother’s grave. They’d done this each year before. It’s hard to believe that not everyone has a mother with them anymore. Some never got to know their moms. I wish it wasn’t like that. God made us to have a mother and a father for a reason. It just makes sense. If any of you believe in prayer and the God of prayer, I ask that you pray for those who don’t have a mother. Pray for those who’d love nothing more than to give a card and flowers to their mom. Lift those people up to God. Ask God to love them where their mother no longer can’t. -Thomas Sheltrown Life After 7-Teen
